Little sister, I see you.

Little sister, I see you.

I see your wide-eyed amazement at this newfound freedom, dipping your toe into the lake of life. You want to jump both feet in, yet something holds you back from fully losing all control.

I see your concern as you take two steps forward, wondering what will be left of the life you’re leaving behind.

I see your fear as you encounter all sorts of new creatures, individuals with whom you have never engaged nor noticed.

I see your hesitancy as you take it all in, curiosity mixed with caution.

I see your excitement at all of the new opportunities, allowing yourself to fully embrace experiences you didn’t know existed.

I see you pause in fear as you meet warning signs, roadblocks that remind of you where you could end up if you aren’t careful.

I see you combust in sadness and anger, recognizing you are really on your own as you find yourself alone in the middle of the deep end.

I see you reach for safety, hoping you will find a barrier to hold onto.

I see you muster the courage to keep going, watching everything behind you disappear in the blink of an eye.

I see you cry out for help, as you are met with the courage you need to keep going.

I see you finish what you set out to do, only now with a new outlook on the path you are trodding.

Little sister, I see you.

Little sister, I was you.

Little sister, we all have been

you.

And little sister? We are here for you.
